The Lisbon Treaty is substantially equivalent to the abandoned EU Constitution. We Conservatives are opposed to the Lisbon Treaty because we think it transfers too much power from individual Member States to the central institutions of the EU. We oppose, inter alia, the establishment of an EU President and an EU Foreign Minister.


The Treaty remains un-ratified in four EU Member States and we Conservatives continue to campaign for a referendum.
